Terry Wayne Simmons

5/9/56 11/15/10

On Nov. 15, 2010, Terry lost his three-year battle with cancer.

Terry was born May 9, 1956 in Renton, Washington to the parents of Spencer and Justyn Simmons. At age one and a half the family moved to San Diego, Calif., where his only brother was born. A year and a half later, the family moved again to Nashville, Tenn. He spent his early childhood in the Smokey Mountains.Eight years later, moving again to Irving, Texas, where Terry graduated from MacArthur High School. He then attended college at South West Texas State University in San Marcos. Afterwards, he moved several times to Austin, San Antonio and Midland. Finally, landing in Ruidoso, where Terry became a successful business owner and home builder. Homes that to this date grace the landscapes of Ranches of Sonterra, in Alto and throughout Lincoln County.

Terry’s life consisted of many adventures. He had his own unique way of impacting people’s lives. Terry always had the answers, and knew what to do. Terry liked to quote saying: “It’s not the breaths you take that matter, but the moments that take your breath away.”

Terry was a son, brother, father and grandfather who left behind in life his father, Spencer Simmons and brother Brett Simmons, both of Alto, his eldest daughter Amanda Tolbert and her three children; Tyler, Haley, and Jacob, all of Midland, Texas; his youngest daughter, Tracy Simmons and her son Max, of Sheffield Lake, Ohio.

Terry will be missed by all that knew him. But a part of Terry will always exist in our hearts.
